Powder River Outfitters

ABOUT

Powder River Outfitters owns and leases several hundred square miles of prime hunting land in Southeastern Montana. The beautiful landscape combined with our knowledge of the area will result in an experience of a lifetime. Montana is home to many of the largest Whitetail, Mule Deer, Antelope, and Turkeys in the world. Powder River Outfitter has over 20 years experience and our guides will provide you with the absolute best opportunity for a trophy hunt. We are an equal opportunity employer. Gigantic 300k acre ranch in SE Montana where deer numbers are solid and deer grow to older age classes. Whitetails are really underrated in the west as is, but with river bottoms and natural terrain features to hide they can hit real maturity. You'll stay in renovated trailers and eat family style meals.

Facilities

Our camp is rustic, but comfortable. Powder River Outfitters is family owned and operated. We have been under new ownership since February 2014. Our exceptional guides have been with us every step of the way, and make Powder River Outfitters what it is today. We furnish all the equipment, except personal effects, necessary to make your hunt successful and enjoyable. Our trailers are heated, with electric lights, and comfortable mattresses. All meals are prepared by our cook and special requests can be made with prior notice. We care for your meat, trophy antlers, and capes as if they were our own. The client covers the cost of freight, taxidermy, and meat processing. If you wound an animal, it is yours and every attempt will be made to recover the animal, therefore no other animals will be harvested.

Backcountry Camp

Our camp is located in the Little Belt Mountains in the Helena – Lewis & Clark National Forrest in Central Montana. From the trailhead our pack mules and horses will take you and your gear on approximately a 5 mile ride to the base camp which is at about 6000 feet. Base camp consists of a large cook tent, guide tent, sleeping tents, shower tent and of course an outhouse! This camp is operated under a special use permit with the Helena – Lewis & Clark National Forrest. This area is closed to all motorized vehicles so all hunting is done via horseback, mules or simply walking. The terrain can be steep and rugged but also consists of open meadows surrounded by thick timber. Over 20 years ago, several thousand acres of the national forest was burned and the recovering area serves as an abundant feeding ground for the deer, elk and some black bears. If you are looking for a true back country hunting experience, you will not be disappointed!
